Hello and welcome to the Australian 411! My name is Lucy and I am the primary author and editor of this site and if you stay around a while I would love to tell you my story and how this website came to be.
Funnily enough originally this website was going to be called the Midnight Macabre as I myself am a night owl and most of my instantaneous bursts of inspiration for major projects such as this come to me at the latest hours of the night, or the earliest hours of the morning...
And the macabre came from my love of Junji Ido's works around themes of horror, and the paranormal. I have read Ido's works since I began high school and I still watch video analysis videos on YouTube to pass the time when I'm bored. However, the name of this site changed course when I discovered that there are many pieces of literature and films under this name and although I loved the name, it wasn't very original so It was changed to the Australian 411. Why this name you may ask? Well, I am from Australia myself and have always had a love for the paranormal, true crime, and conspiracies, but not like UFOs and TikTok skinwalkers, I'm talking legitimate strange, and paranormal experiences that spark curiosity in the most skeptical of people. As for the 411, well you'll see what that means later on in the site and from there the name will all piece itself together!
Anyway enough about me, here's a brief overview of the topics you will come across on this site!
True crime and real-life cases from Australia in detail.
A detailed overview of the missing 411 phenomenon and how it applies to missing persons cases.
Conspiracy theories, old and new, and what my and the public's current takes on them are.
Paranormal phenomena and strange tales from people who feel willing to share!
Australian folklore and history and how these figures interconnect with the missing 411 phenomenon.
Finally, there will be a page dedicated to listing ALL the sources I use for each page and topic covered as I write them throughout the site.
To finish this off, I would like to thank you as the reader for getting this far through my ramblings and would like to again welcome you to the Australian 411. Although this is intended to be as to the facts and professional as possible, my personal opinions will be shared on the site although I do not expect you to take my opinion as fact and encourage you to have your own take on what you see here.
