INVESTIGATION, EXPERIMENTATION & EVALUATION
INVESTIGATION, EXPERIMENTATION & EVALUATION
The "Investigation, Experimentation & Evaluation" section is the fourth and final section of the Textiles Portfolio. You've almost made it!
It includes four A3 pages OR eight A4 pages with:
Material experiments
Equipment experiments
Manufacturing process experiments
Properties & performance table
You need to include 3-4 different experiments for each category.
In each of these experiments, you will be comparing 2-3 different materials/things/processes.
There are 3 categories of experiments. They are:
1. Equipment Experiments
2. Manufacturing Processes
3. Materials Experiments
You must include 3-4 experiments for each of the 3 categories.
Every experiment you do must be comparative, meaning it must include a comparison of two-three different techniques or pieces of equipment or materials. You must then weigh up the results of each and make a judgement as to the most suitable option for the project.
You must physically conduct the experiment and stick the physical sample into your portfolio once printed. This is evidence that you actually have completed this section.
TYPICAL LAYOUT OF EACH EXPERIMENT
In this section, you need to identify the properties of the fibre, yarn or fabric that will be necessary for the end use.
Refer to your notes in your exercise books or the content and summaries posted on google classroom.
