Victoria Avenue Public School would like to acknowledge and pay respect to the Wangal clan of the Eora nation, the traditional owners of the land on which we learn, work and play. We pay our respect to elders past and present and extend this respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples learning, working or visiting at our school.

Welcome Back
I would like to welcome everyone back to Term 4. We are looking forward to another term full of amazing learning experiences for our students, staff and community.
Staffing
We congratulate Ms Anthea Bell who has successfully gained a relieving Principal role. We thank Ms Bell for the difference she has made to our students, staff and families and we wish her all the very best.
We wish Mr Luke Richardson all the very best as he takes leave to welcome the arrival of his new baby. Ms Jeanette Ong will be teaching library lessons to all students, and taking on the myriad administrative responsibilities required to run our school library.
Aboriginal Education update
We are proud of our local Aboriginal heritage and very curious to learn more. To continue to learn more, this term we are walking together to explore the natural environment around our school, led by Uncle Jimmy Smith. Uncle Jimmy will teach us about the local natural environment focusing on the plants and animals that live in and around are our school gardens and environment.
Zoo Snooze
Congratulations to Year 4 students on their exemplary behaviour and engagement during the overnight excursion. Thank you to Mrs Mawad and Miss Gobran for accompanying the students and providing them such a wonderful opportunity to learn about the zoo and its animals and to develop their personal independence. Thank you parents for your role in preparing and developing independence in your children so they may enjoy the experience. Special thank you to Mrs Mawad for all the work that went into planning and organising the experience. Enjoy the photos later in the newsletter.
Our STEAM sessions have been buzzing with creativity! Students have been exploring mixed media, combining drawings, paper collage, digital art, and greenscreen to bring their rainforests to life. To add to the excitement, we’ve also been experimenting with animation, adding movement and life to their creations.
