Hayden & Mirra
Jackson & Max with Mr Springfield
Our film, The Yarn, will be one of 18 aired at Scotty's Cinema in Raymond Terrace in September, after being chosen from over 40 entries.
Here is the promotional poster created by Phoenix (Year 3) that formed part of our submission.
Reeve and Mirra enjoyed sharing Heggerty Hedgehog on Friday after whizzing through their practice session.
Oliver was a great helper in adding to the class' star collection for great team work as well.
There was a strong technology theme for intentional play this week. Students were fascinated to literally pull apart a laptop computer to see all the internal components. They then set about creating their own technological devices such as smartwatches, mobile phones, laptops, tablets and desktop computers.
While Stage 2 were away on camp, Stage 3 students worked on a 3-day project with Miss Ella. They also buddied up with some of the K-1-2 students to help them with their learning.
In science, the primary class have been looking at different soil and earth compositions. It's definitely catchy as a lot of rock examinations were taking place at camp as well! (You may want to check those track pants and jacket pockets for 'collectables' before washing, mums and dads!)
Congratulations Arden and Braxton on creating these fabulous pencil drawings with Mrs Merrilees. We love your attention to detail and the shading which helps bring that realistic feel to the images.
The Numbers Game
You may have seen The Letters and Numbers game on SBS or other similar shows on TV, but here is the www.mathstarters.net version we like to play in the primary classroom sometimes.
Can you use these numbers to make the target number? You may only use the four operations of multiplication, division, addition and subtraction. You may use each number only once but do no need to use all of them if they're not required.
How close can YOU get to the target? Can you get it exactly?
These are standardised assessments in reading and numeracy (plus writing for year 6) that are conducted each year to help schools with identifying strengths and areas for improvement.
Here's a sample reading question. How would you go with this?
