Acknowledgement of Country

Victoria Avenue Public School would like to acknowledge and pay respect to the Wangal clan of the Eora nation, the traditional owners of the land on which we learn, work and play. We pay our respect to elders past and present and extend this respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who are learning, working or visiting at our school.

Congratulations!

We are very excited to welcome a new baby into the VAPS family! Mrs Jenny Lee and her husband are the proud to introduce their beautiful son, Jenson. Congratulations to Mrs Lee and family from all of us here and welcome to the world baby Jenson! 🩵

The joy continues at VAPS as we say congratulations to Miss Bronte Lau who celebrated her marriage in the holidays!

Congratulations go to Mr Callum Dunn, our school counsellor, who also celebrated his wedding in the holidays!

We wish you all the very best of health and happiness as you begin the next chapter of your lives with your respective partners.

Staffing

We welcome Ms Anthea Bell to the VAPS team this term. We are excited to have Ms Bell working with us part time in the role of relieving Deputy Principal. Ms Bell has a wealth of experience and expertise as a Deputy Principal to share with our students, staff and community. Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Ms Bell!

We welcome Ms Lara Sarlas and Ms Tina Dickson back to VAPS this week. Ms Sarlas and Ms Dickson will be working in classrooms and with small groups of students to support teaching and learning in literacy and numeracy, replacing Mrs Lee while she is on leave.

We farewell Mrs Rhondda Deer this week as she heads off to begin many new adventures in travel, catching up with friends and caring for family. Thank you for all you have done for VAPS over the years, Rhondda and we wish you all the very best.

Please join us for Open Classrooms to celebrate Public Education Week and celebrate with the Book Week Parade on the same day. We will be celebrating both occasions with our community on ***Thursday 14th August***

NAPLAN

As we reflect on the recent NAPLAN results for 2025, it is important to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our students and staff. Our Year 3 and Year 5 students showed great effort in the 2025 NAPLAN tests, with many achieving or exceeding national standards in aspects of literacy and numeracy. This success reflects our dedicated staff and supportive community.

Early analysis of student data indicates improvements in aspects of literacy and numeracy. We will continue to analyse our NAPLAN data to identify areas for celebration, areas for further improvement and adapt support and challenge for students accordingly.

While NAPLAN results are a valuable measure of student progress, they represent just one aspect of our students' learning journey. Our high expectations approach to education prioritises academic excellence alongside social-emotional, creative and physical development. We strive to create an equitable environment where every child can flourish.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership in your child's education. Together, we can continue to foster a love of learning as our students continue to thrive.

STEAM

The children are excited to see their ideas come to life frame by frame. As they continue to develop their skills in mixed media, they will work towards creating their very own animation throughout the term.

Kindergarten has begun experimenting with stop motion animation to bring their creatures to life! Stop motion takes a lot of time and patience, but as the classes are learning, it can be very rewarding when it all comes together.

Victoria Ave PS uses School Bytes to communicate with you. The portal is used for various things, including online permission notes, attendance, and payments, which can be accessed via a secure link.

IMPORTANT: To ensure that the registration process works smoothly and you can link your account to your child(ren), make sure that you use the same email address that you have provided to the school or if using a different email address, an SMS verification code will be sent to the mobile phone number on record for you at the school.
