Student Work

This week, our students embarked on a creative journey inspired by the book Dot - a book about a young girl who learns that everyone has the ability to create and express themselves. Through intentional play, they explored their imaginations and expressed themselves by creating beautiful artworks full of vibrant dots and patterns. It took a lot of patience to create entire artworks using dots alone - insprired by artist George Seurat. We extended on our previous 'forces' creations - where we made spinners - and created larger dots using our own patterns and oil pastels. Most surprising and vibrant were our foil covered plates where we used foam shapes to create 'relief'. Relief is when you have dimension within a flat piece, which creates texture like on Australian coins! This activity has encouraged confidence and creativity, showing that even the smallest marks can lead to wonderful masterpieces!
