There are numerous websites, resource books, online videos, lesson plans and supporting documents that are designed to support dance teachers in their quest to create interesting, challenging and value-filled dance lessons.
The below links are a limited selection of resources available online.
The Arts Unit digital resources are a suite of resources delivered by experts created by The Arts Unit and industry partners. Formats include short practical videos as Art Bites, mini website classes presented as Creative Classes and Creative Teachers, self-directed learning modules and whole units presented as Creative Resources.
Dance @ The Arts Unit - Local and inclusive programs, digital resources, performances and event streaming provide equity and access to dance opportunities. Weekly ensembles, workshops, inclusive opportunities, performances and industry partnerships, foster skills, knowledge and understanding for students and teachers in dance. Teacher professional development, both live and online, provides support to deliver high-quality arts experiences for students.
Jacob's Pillow Dance Interactive is an ever-growing collection of dance videos filmed at Jacob's Pillow from the 1930s to today.
ABC Education provides on-demand, curriculum-linked programming for primary and secondary students.
DancED is Sydney Dance Company's national program supporting dance education for all ages through curriculum relevant programs for primary and secondary students and career focused study for pre-professional dancers and university graduates. DancED connects schools, teachers and students to leading professionals in the dance industry, providing invaluable insight, opportunities and role models. Sydney Dance Company inspires, excites and creates connections through contemporary dance of world-stage quality.
Bangarra's e-Resources are part of our Education Program, created in partnership with Education Services Australia, provide insight into the creative process of iconic Bangarra works.
Designed for primary and secondary teachers, they can be used to build class activities, promote discussion and develop skills in creating contemporary dance.
Dance Academy: Arts Education - Developed in association with Ausdance, this resource provides educators with engaging classroom activities, designed to enhance students' knowledge, skills and understanding of dance, as both the artist and audience. The website features video clips and behind the scenes materials from the award-winning "Dance Academy" TV series, highlighting themes of Dance Skills, Dance Knowledge, Production and Health and Wellbeing.
