Today we will be exploring the world of famous Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai.
For this lesson you will need:
access to computer, tablet or phone.
Experiment with colours using Google Art and Culture - Art Colouring Book. Created by by Simon Doury, Google Arts & Culture Lab this interactive experiment allows you to colour your way through the palettes of famous paintings
Once in the experiment, select the artwork The Great Wave of Kanagawa.
This simple coloring tool allows you to interact with the image in a new and creative way.
An outline of the artwork is presented for you to colour using the colours provided at the bottom of the page.
Unlike a classical coloring book, this one adds depth and perspective elements present in the original artwork as you colour in an area.
You may choose to use similar tones to the original or get creative and create your own colour palette.
You may like to look at the 2 examples below to give you some ideas.
Take note of the key to assist you with moving around the page.
You can download and share your artworks when you are finished.
