About the performance

The Arts Unit is proud to partner with NIDA and Sport for Jove to present the 2019 NSW Public Schools Drama Company performance of William Shakespeare's Macbeth.

Students will:

  • watch a recorded performance of Macbeth, performed at National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA)'s Studio Theatre, May 2019

  • explore perspectives on the production from the director and cast

  • learn about the student performers' experiences.

'Macbeth' by William Shakespeare: A brutal and phenomenal soldier receives a prophecy from a group of witches that he will one day become the King of Scotland... but at what cost? It is the story of the lethal combination of power, ambition and consequence.

This exciting take on one of Shakespeare's most popular plays sets the story in a terrifying climate where the country is in a constant state of war and children have been recruited as professional soldiers.

What happens when young people are forced to deal with situations and consequences that experienced soldiers struggle to cope with?
