Years 7 and 8 music
Welcome to this @The Arts Unit Creative Class.
In this interactive music lesson, your students will meet Australian performing artist Casey Donovan and learn about her inspirations for performing.
Your students will:
watch and listen to Casey Donovan perform with the NSW Public Schools Combined Secondary Schools Choir and the NSW Public Schools Symphony Orchestra
compare this performance with a performance of the same arrangement of the song by a different singer at the 2019 Schools Spectacular
sing along with the choir and Casey by reading the score and learning one of the parts
listen to an interview with Casey Donovan and reflect on how her childhood and experiences as a teenager influenced her performing career.
4.3: performs music selected for study with appropriate stylistic features demonstrating solo and ensemble awareness.
4.7: demonstrates an understanding of musical concepts through the analysis, comparison, and critical discussion of music from different stylistic, social, cultural and historical contexts.
4.11: demonstrates an appreciation, tolerance and respect for the aesthetic value of music as an artform.
Encourage students to read the score of the song to familiarise themselves.
Teachers may wish to assign particular choral parts to different members of the choir to make sure all parts are covered.
One or more of the singers may like to learn the lead vocal line so that the song can be performed as a class.

MS Teams: create a quiz or assignment in your class team drive where students can submit responses and upload any files they create.
