Key audio documentation include:
Audio cue sheet – a table indicating every sound cue used in the performance, in the order in which they’re played. It includes details of the type of sound cue, dialogue or action when cue occurs, fader levels, pan, timing, effects, etc.
Input / output list – a summary of what equipment is plugged into which input and output.
Microphone plot – a chart indicating which microphones are being used in each scene or item.
Audio signal flow schematic or install diagram – a diagram that shows the layout of all equipment being used and how it is connected. Signal flow is indicated with arrows from inputs to outputs.
Throughout pre-production and rehearsals you may need to modify or update documentation, including cue sheets. It is important only authorised personnel complete the changes as it is important to ensure currency of version and the status of any amendment.
The following video 'QLab basics for busy teachers' demonstrates how audio cues can be created and activated using the software.
