Online Safety

Social media is fun and an easy way to stay connected with others, but it comes with risks. Some of these include:

  • Spending too much time online and disconnecting with the real world

  • Becoming a victim of cyberbullying

  • Ruining your online reputation

  • Having personal information exposed online

  • Becoming a victim of online scams

  • Reduced self-esteem

This is why cyber safety is so important. Follow the tips below to protect yourself online:

  • Don't broadcast your personal details (e.g. your home address, mobile phone number, date of birth)

  • Always check location services and keep them off

  • Don't share your passwords with anyone

  • Log out when using public computers

  • Recogonise fake accounts and use the block feature

  • Do not post or send pictures you wouldn't want everyone to see
