On a broader scale you can identify the whole ensemble, including instruments and/or voices.
Some examples of ensembles are:
steel band
string quartet
gamelan
piano trio
rock band
SATB choir
big band
orchestra
consort.
Orchestral music has up to 5 different categories of instruments, depending on how they create sound: strings, brass, woodwind, percussion, keyboard.

Listen to a broad selection of music. A few examples are listed below.
Try to guess what instrument or ensemble is performing.
Also guess the material of each instrument's construction.
