Entry Process

Please note that entry into all music groups other than Training Band is through audition. Elementary Strings requires approximately 6 months of private tuition.

Existing students will receive an email in term 3 with a link to re-enrol for the following year which needs to be submitted online.

New students that start at St Ives North Public School during the year after the ensembles have started rehearsing and have prior music experience are welcome to audition to get into the string or band groups at anytime.

Weekly Rehearsals

The weekly rehearsal sessions are pivotal to the success of each group and the need for parental support of these rehearsals cannot be over stated.

Due to Child Protection requirements it is essential that a parent helper attends each rehearsal session to assist the conductor and to act as a liaison person between the students, parents and school staff. Parent rosters are set and every parent is expected to commit to supporting this program. Parents who are unable to attend may be required to pay a fee that will exempt them from rostered duties. We operate as a cooperative so it's essential that everyone in the program makes a contribution for the program to work.
