The Senior Music Workshop is a full-day program designed for Year 11 and 12 NSW public school students studying music for their HSC, along with their teachers. Arts education provides a vital platform for students to thrive, express, create, collaborate, learn, and excel, and this workshop supports their journey toward HSC success.
Led by experienced educators, the workshop deepens students’ understanding of HSC music examination requirements. Participants will engage in interactive sessions covering performance, musicology, and aural skills, strengthening their knowledge of key musical concepts and refining their creative and analytical abilities. There is also the potential for a small breakaway composition workshop.

Applications are now open for schools to participate in the Senior Music Workshops.
Teachers, please complete the Senior Music Workshop - Schools attendance confirmation form by Friday 11 April 2025 (Term 1 Week 11).
Students must attend with a supervising teacher from their school. If this is not possible, please get in touch with Sue Dawson to discuss available options.
$10 per student.
Students will be required to pay this fee to their school. Payment due by Friday 17 May 2024 (Term 2 Week 3).
Teachers - please advise your school SAM that the students will be making payments to the school.
A journal transfer will be completed following confirmation of numbers and attendance on the day.
Teachers are asked to collect signed Student Permission and Publicity Consent forms from each participating student and keep files on file at the school.
As part of the workshop, Year 12 students will have the opportunity to perform for a panel of experienced HSC markers and educators, receiving valuable feedback to refine their skills and enhance their preparation for HSC assessments.
Each school may nominate a maximum of two students to perform.
Should time permit at the end of the day, additional students may also have the chance to perform for the panel. Interested students should come prepared with a performance piece in case extra performance slots become available.
Teachers are asked to bring a copy of the student roll on the day to be handed in at registration. On the roll please indicate any students with medical action plans or those without permission to publish.
