Students will participate, experience and discover the need for physical activity in a variety of contexts. They will use reliable resources to draw conclusions about how their own levels of physical activity compare to current physical activity guidelines for maintaining health. Students will propose strategies to improve or maintain their current physical activity levels.
During these lessons, students will:
identify suitable physical activities based on the context they are in
participate in suitable physical activity
analyse their levels of physical activity compared to the Australia’s Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour Guidelines
propose strategies to improve or maintain their current physical activity levels in line with the current physical activity guidelines.

Recognise and record the body’s response to physical activity.
Analyse their own physical activity levels to propose strategies that maintain or improve their health and wellbeing.

Students will explore the definitions of health and how they have changed over time to develop your own definition of health. Thinking about the current health situation, they will adopt the roles of key decision makers to recognise who is responsible for health and build an understanding of how responsibility filters down to ensure health and wellbeing for the wider community.

Students will explore the difference between health and illness to address misunderstandings about mental health and promote positive attitudes. They will investigate self care and action which can be taken to improve and maintain physical and mental health. These will be considered critically to compare whether perceptions and management of mental health and physical health are the same or different.

Students will explore the difference between physical and mental fitness. They will learn about the components of physical and mental fitness and participate in activities to develop these components.
