This week students will extend their understanding of the number system and learn to apply it to solve problems involving right-angled triangles.
Students:
are introduced to rational and irrational numbers
will create a visual representation of Pythagoras’ Theorem
explore the relationship between 3 sides in a right-angled triangle
will solve equations to find the missing value using Pythagoras’ Theorem.
Outcomes:
MA4-1WM - communicates and connects mathematical ideas using appropriate terminology, diagrams and symbols
MA4-2WM - applies appropriate mathematical techniques to solve problems
MA4-16MG - applies Pythagoras’ theorem to calculate side lengths in right-angled triangles, and solves related problems
