Yesterday we learned about the three different structures we can use with the -ING phrase (the participle phrase).
Today we will apply the skills we have learned to a novel of your choice.
Watch the video and then check your understanding by completing the embedded task below.
It's time to see if you can find other authors who use this -ING structure.
Hint: There won't be a zero in your answer!
Select a book to read, or one you have previously read.
Read the first chapter and look for examples of this -ING phrase.
Add at least 5 you find to your writer's palette.
Look carefully at those you find and think about what the -ING phrase is adding to the sentence.
You will use your work from this task to create posters like the ones below in the next lesson.
Don't forget to hand in the work you completed today!
Your teacher will have told you to do one of the following:
Upload any digital documents you created and any photos you took of your written work to your Learning Management system (MS Teams, Google Classroom for example).
Email any digital documents you created and any photos you took of your written work to your teacher.
Make sure you keep any hand written work you did in your exercise book or folder as your teacher may need to see these when you are back in class.
