Save our catchment
Welcome
Save Our Catchment is a series that approaches the Stage 5 Geography curriculum through video and electronic resources. This virtual excursion aims to engage students through studying a real world land and water management issue, while demonstrating geographical fieldwork skills. There are curriculum links to stage 5 Science. Cross curriculum priority Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Culture, and Sustainability, offer scope for flipped classroom practices. The series provides an independent study of the Cats Claw Creeper in the Upper Clarence Catchment which can be used as a model for students to follow in a local creek or stream.
Booklets
Save Our Catchment is divided into twelve work units. Each work unit aligns to a video episode and accompanying worksheet in the learning materials booklet. Solutions to tasks in the electronic answer booklet are provided for teachers to view and download.
Videos
Save Our Catchment was developed in collaboration with Jubullum Local Aboriginal Land Council and Upper Clarence Landcare. Videos and electronic materials are free for schools and accessible via the NSW Department of Education Learning System Youtube channel. All episodes have been designed to be used independently or as a systematic series.
