Ryde Public School celebrated NAIDOC week during Week 1. All classes participated in NAIDOC activities such as NAIDOC sports and a collaborative art display, where every student coloured in a part of a larger artwork and joined them together to create a new, unique art display.
On Friday of Week 2, we celebrated Green and Gold day. Students were dressed in the colours of green and gold for our Olympians or a colour of any country they are supporting.This day was about painting the country in our national colours and being proud of Australia’s sporting achievements, it’s about all Australians coming together and celebrating the green and gold.
The mural was opened on Monday of Week 3 near C Block. The mural reflects our school history and acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The words “Students together, Ryde Public School is on the land of the Wallumedegal people of the Eora nation. Always was, always will be aboriginal land.” are written on the mural.
Students attended the Athletics Carnival on Tuesday of Week 3. There were many events for the students, such as the 100m, 200m and 800m running races. K-2 participated in fun sports activities. The finalists will be competing at the Zone Carnival, in the hopes to get into Area.
We celebrated Education Week in Week 4. All stages performed a dance and have been working really hard to learn the dance moves. After all the dances finished, parents were invited into the classrooms to play some Mathematical games with them. Students and parents enjoyed a picnic on the slopes and oval. Following this, the CAPA (Creative And Performing Arts) showcase took place in the Hall. The Junior and Senior Dance, K-2 and 3-6 Choir and 3-6 drama groups performed.
