As we bid farewell to another remarkable school year, I find myself reflecting on the collective achievements, growth, and spirit that define our extraordinary community. This year has been a testament to our resilience, adaptability, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

To our brilliant students, your enthusiasm for learning, your creativity, and your kindness have shaped our school into a vibrant hub of inspiration. I am immensely proud of each one of you for your academic accomplishments, personal development, and the positive impact you've had on one another.

To our dedicated staff, your passion for education, tireless efforts, and innovative teaching methods have created an environment where students not only thrive academically but also develop into well-rounded individuals ready to face the challenges of the future.

To our parents and guardians, thank you for your trust and partnership. Your involvement in your children's education, your support for our initiatives, and your understanding during this time of change have been invaluable. Our strong collaboration is a cornerstone of our success.

Staffing Updates and Events

I would like to congratulate Miss Brooke Tierney on her permanent appointment to Ryde PS. Congratulations also goes out to Miss Anna Han on her appointment through merit selection. Miss Rachel Batten was offered a transfer into Ryde PS. I am sure you will join me in congratulating our new staff members making them feel welcomed.

We farewell Mr Adam Green. Mr Green has been a valued member of the learning community for over 5 years. We wish him every success at his new school.

Premiere's Reading Challenge

All students received their PRC certificates recently. Students who had participated in the challenge and submitted their reading records for several years were eligible for Gold and Platinum Certificates. Stage 2 and 3 students were presented with their certificates by Mrs Bellamy and were congratulated on their reading success.

We are proud of our certificate earners for the Premier's Reading Challenge. As we celebrate their success, we eagerly anticipate and encourage the continuation of their reading adventures, knowing that each page turned is a step towards greater knowledge and imagination.

Stage 2 Science

Stage 2 students exhibited their developing scientific knowledge with thorough and engaging science presentations for Mr. Ta and Mrs. Bellamy, supported by Mr. Ivanov. Their impressive knowledge depth was evident, sparking interest among peers. Their dedication to learning promises exciting future discoveries, and we eagerly await their continued growth in science.

Presentation Day

Presentation day: Brilliance shone bright at our Presentation Day as stars from each class were honored for their outstanding achievements throughout 2023. Amidst applause from proud parents and carers, Mr. Hooker, our esteemed Director of Education, and Mr. Jordan Lane MP graced the event, celebrating the dedication and success of our exceptional students. Our new student leaders were announced and the 2023 leaders received a medal as a memento and thank you for their dedication.

Year 6 Graduation

Celebrating a significant milestone, our Year 6 students bid adieu to primary school with hearts filled with nostalgia and excitement. Each graduate received a Graduation Bear, commemorating their journey. Proud parents, carers, and the esteemed Mr. Jordon Lane MP graced the event, adding to the atmosphere. In their graduation packs, a thoughtful letter from Mr. Lane added to the significance of the day. Students fondly reminisced about the year's cherished memories and the joyous moments they shared.

Year 6 Farewell

The Year 6 Farewell Dinner at North Ryde RSL was a fitting culmination to a week filled with unforgettable moments. Tireless dedication from our staff ensured a spectacular evening that truly celebrated our students. With a grand balloon arch marking their entry, a slideshow spotlighting each student, a vibrant 'Candyland' lolly table, a photo booth, and a lively DJ, the night was a whirlwind of joy and nostalgia. Amidst laughter and shared memories, students reveled in a fun-filled evening.

KMart Wishing Tree appeal lauch choir performance

The Senior and Junior choirs performed at the Kmart Wishing Tree initiative, to support the community alongside the Salvation Army. Their songs resonated with hope, spreading cheer and encouragement for those less fortunate. Staff and students worked many lunchtimes to learn additional songs for this event. As a token of appreciation, Kmart thanked the students with treat bags, recognizing their contribution to the cause. Engaging in this initiative not only showcased the choirs' talents but also presented an opportunity to serve their community. The performance was enjoyed by students and audience alike. Staff and students worked many lunchtimes to learn additional songs. It was very rewarding that many parents and caregivers were in attendance.

NEW Inster-school Sport Jersey

What I really like about the new Jerseys, is that they have fluorescent colour schemes and tones that fade aesthetically into each other like an ombre effect. The colour scheme overall was very appealing and relish to my eyesight and the material was also higher quality and felt more durable. The soccer jerseys also looked better as they had an upgraded scheme and colour tone.

Apart from the colour and the material, the overall design of the jerseys have significantly escalated from the original. They have a range of stripes that brandish our school mascot on the top corner. The netball jersey also has a very flexible material that makes it more stretchable and overall, makes it easier to move freely for all the PSSA individuals, to achieve their peak athletic performance. This also ensures that all PSSA participants and players are comfortable and don’t have any tight discomforts from the jersey to affect their level of agile athleticism.

In conclusion, the jerseys are an exceptional work of art, featuring our school’s classic colour scheme, a pastoral design and a designated area for brandishing our schools name and emblem. These newly designed jerseys will hopefully be acknowledged for their bright colours and their distinctive designs and patterns that brandish the jerseys, also consisting of the adamant emblem and broad colour scheme. Hopefully new generation continues our legacy and competes against neighbouring schools and their distinctive communities.

Enrolments for Kindergarten 2024 are now open! Please enrol your child into Ryde Public School Kindergarten 2024 as soon as possible. Important information regarding parent tours is being communicated. Soon, information regarding orientation sessions ('Stepping into Ryde') for students and a parent information Zoom occurring in Term 4 will be sent via parent/carer emails.

Children can start kindergarten at the beginning of the school year if they turn 5 on or before 31 July that year.

School Maintenance and Upgrades

Block C student Toilet Upgrade

Some great news!

Block C student toilets upgrade work will commenced today (Friday 15th December).

This work is funded by the DoE and is managed by an Assets Officer.

The scope of the project is to demolish existing facilities and complete a rebuild with current DoE standards.

The major work will be completed in the school holidays and could potential carry over into the new year.

Lets hope all things go to plan and we will start the new year with the new facilities!

Diverse Learners : Christmas came early

What a fantastic year we’ve had. Here we are at the end of yet another great year. This year has been very progressive in many ways. DLS students shared many wonderful memories and have also had fun learning! We are so proud of our amazing DLS students with massive improvements, socially, emotionally and academically.

Finally, we celebrated our learning by visiting the Special Children’s Christmas Party at Rosehill Garden with our students and families. This event is Australia’s largest Christmas Party for special children. We were excited to see students from so many different schools celebrating the end of the year together with great fun. We had the chance to gather and share the magic of the Festive Season with a community larger than their circle of family and carer. DLS students were treated to stage shows, dance, carnival rides, plenty of food, massive presents to take home and so much more! Our day was filled with fun and laughter with teachers, SLSOs and their parents. Our DLS students were gems to proudly represent Ryde P.S with fantastic attitudes. So proud of you all!

Congratulations to all our Year 6 students who will be going to secondary school next year. We will miss you all and wish you the best of luck in the next chapter of your life. Farewell Ali, Connor, Daniel and Jaeyun. Thank you to our amazing parents for your support throughout this year. Have a safe, wonderful and relaxing summer holiday.

Early Stage 1 : Learning in the Outdoors

Towards the end of Term 4, Early Stage 1 students went on an excursion to the Field of Mars Reserve. Students engaged in various hands-on activities with the educators throughout the day. Some activities included using a map to find our way to ‘Flat Rock’, listening to stories and making a blue-tongued lizard using natural materials, making a strong shelter with sticks and using ‘ant goggles’ (magnifying glasses) to observe rocks, sticks and insects up close. All students were highly engaged and were praised for their exemplary behaviour by the Field of Mars educators. We were lucky to see plenty of wildlife such as wallabies, ducks, turtles and a real blue-tongued lizard! Kindergarten had a fantastic day of outdoor learning! We can’t wait to go back.

Stage 1 : The Field of Mars

On Monday of Week 9, Stage 1 students attended an art incursion run by Field of Mars. They learnt about different artists that use natural materials to create artworks and were introduced to different tools and techniques that inspired them in creating their own piece of art. Students were given the opportunity to explore and collect various natural materials around the school such as leaves, flowers, and stones that were going to be used in their artwork. This was familiar to them as they had recently learnt about natural materials in their science unit this term as well! Once photos of all materials were collated, students created their digital artworks using the iPads provided. The Field of Mars educators demonstrated how to edit and arrange images, create layers and to use a digital pencil to add drawings. Stage 1 students had a wonderful experience in creating their own take-home digital artworks! Watch their vision come to life!

Stage 2 : Poems

Students have been delving into the world of poetry as part of their English learning this term. Students have learnt that poems are narratives (they tell a story) but their structures are varied. They read and studied many poems to learn writing techniques and build their vocabulary knowledge. They then created their own poems utilising language features such as rhyme, alliteration, similes and imagery. Opportunities to read their work and the poems of others developed their oral reading skills such as expression, volume, phrasing, rhythm and accuracy. It has been a rich learning experience for all students.

Stage 3 : Poetry and Coding

Stage 3 students have been looking at the big question in English this term: How can authors choose to represent things, people, ideas and experiences in written and visual modes? We have been studying texts by Shawn Tan and Anthony Browne to see how visual literacy techniques are used to engage the audience.

Students have created their own picture books and incorporated visual literacy techniques into the images and text. Look at some of the picture books Stage 3 have created!
