Welcome to the Resistance Training for Teens teaching resource!
Resistance Training for Teens (RT4T) is an evidence-based foundational resistance training program designed by the University of Newcastle in collaboration with the NSW Department of Education. It aims to improve adolescents’ muscular fitness, body composition and resistance training skill competency, including squat and push-up technique.
Teachers can use this resource to support the delivery of the program during school sport, Physical Education (PE) or Physical Activity and Sports Studies (PASS).
This resource was developed as part of the Resistance Training for Teens research project and remains available to support teachers in delivering resistance training programs.
Some information may have changed since the resource was developed. Teachers should adapt the resource to suit their students and school context and ensure activities meet current NSW Department of Education Weight lifting and resistance training guidelines and relevant NESA curriculum requirements.
