Attendance - Why it’s important?
We all want our students to get a great education, and the building blocks for a great education begin with students coming to school each and every day.
If students miss school regularly, they miss out on learning the fundamental skills that will set them up for success in the later years of school.
There is no safe number of days for missing school – each day a student misses puts them behind and can affect their educational outcomes. Each missed day is associated with progressively lower achievement in numeracy, writing and reading.
Thank you for your support in sending your child to school each and every day! (Unless they are sick of course!).
Mr Polson
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a point in time assessment of literacy and numeracy skills. Each year students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in tests for writing, reading, conventions of language(spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.
In 2025 NAPLAN will take place from Wednesday 12th March to Monday 24th March. All schools in NSW undertake NAPLAN online. However, Year 3 students do the writing test on paper. The timetable for the NAPLAN assessment for Year 3 and 5 is below:
Wednesday 12th March - Writing
Thursday 13th March - Language and Conventions
Monday 17th March - Reading
Tuesday 18th March - Numeracy
NAPLAN tests are just one part of our school learning assessment program and questions are primarily based on knowledge, understanding and skills gained from the prior year of schooling.
This year NAPLAN overlaps with the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, we have decided to schedule NAPLAN assessments first thing in the morning to ensure fasting students' energy levels are at their highest.
Students and parents can access the public demonstration site (https://www.nap.edu.au/online-assessment/public-demonstration-site) to familiarise themselves with NAPLAN and the types of questions and tools available. Excessive preparation for NAPLAN is not required nor recommended.
If you have any questions about NAPLAN, please contact your child’s teacher. Resources include: ·

Next Thursday March 20, we will be celebrating Harmony Day. Harmony Day is a celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. We are inviting the students to come dressed in orange, which is the official colour of Harmony Day. Your child can wear an orange t-shirt, socks, headwear, or a ribbon to participate in this day. Students will be acknowledging Harmony Day, by taking part in a range of activities in the classroom.
We look forward to a wonderful day of celebration!

A Big Thanks for a Successful School Clean Up Australia Day!
On Friday 28 February, our school came together to celebrate Clean Up Australia Day, and what an amazing day it was! Students and staff worked hand-in-hand to tidy up our school grounds and surrounding areas. With gloves on and bags in hand, we collected litter, recycled materials, and made our school a cleaner, greener place for everyone.
Thanks to everyone who participated – your hard work and enthusiasm made a real difference. Not only did we help protect our environment, but we also had fun and showed our commitment to creating a more sustainable future.
Let’s keep up the great work and continue to care for our planet every day! 🌏✨

Easter is fast approaching and once again Panania North Public School will be hosting an Easter celebration on Friday 11 April. The day will include parades, raffles and an Eggshibition. All students will be participating and will be required to make an ‘egg’ themed project at home for the day.
Below is an outline of what each year group will need to complete for the day accompanied with some photo examples.
Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 – Easter Hat/Bonnet Parade
Students decorate a hat with an Easter theme using any craft materials.
Year 3 and 4 – Egg-Sandwich Board Parade
Students are to create an Egg-Sandwich Board. This can be done by using two pieces of cardboard in the shape of an egg. Students decorate eggs in whatever theme they choose.
Year 5 and 6 – Eggshibition
Students use a blown out, foam or hard boiled egg to create a model/diorama. The Eggshibition will be on display in the school hall. All completed Eggshibition projects will need to be brought into the hall on the day of the Easter celebrations before school on Thursday 11 April.
The Panania North Easter celebrations will commence at 9.30am on Friday 11 April.
Please come and join in on the celebrations.
