First Round VIDEO Audition
Perform two contrasting pieces (from 2 to 3 minutes long demonstrating technical ability and personal expression)
Ensure audio quality of the video is clear
Ensure the balance between the soloist and the accompaniment is correct. It is important that the applicant can be heard clearly.
Record your audition in a room with a neutral acoustics (not a large hall or outside)
Students should be dressed in appropriate attire (please see below)
Student’s full body must be fully visible in the video at all times as performance presentation along with instrumental and vocal capabilities will also be considered
Please review the video before sending and ensure that it is appropriate for audition.

Please note: Only students who were successful at First Round Video Auditions will be invited back for Second Round Live Auditions
Students will be asked to perform 1 piece of their choosing from their First Round VIDEO Audition live.
Students will also be asked to demonstrate technical skills on their instrument
Guitar
Simple improvisation over 12 bar blues in Am
Strings, Woodwind and Brass
Ab major, D major and G harmonic minor scale (1 octave) and basic sight reading
Piano
C major, F major and B harmonic minor scale (2 octaves) and basic sight reading
Percussion/Drums
Paradiddles to a metronome up to 140 and simple rhythmic pattern on snare
Voice
Students will be taught a simple melody and harmony on the day to learn.
Piano, Drum Kit, Amps and Microphones are provided.
Students are required to bring their own backing tracks (MP3/ iPod /iPhone or a CD)
Time will be given for students to warm up their voices, set up, warm up and tune their instruments.
