Wednesday 6th September 2023 (Week 8) - Education Week
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are having Multicultural Day at school on Wednesday 6th September (Week 8), as part of our Education Week. This is a day to celebrate the different cultures we come from and promote unity in our school.
Last year we had Korean Day and earlier this year we had Mongolian Day. Some students asked our Principal, Ms Marchiello, if our school can have a Multicultural Day - to celebrate all the cultures and countries we are from. We have asked students and parents for ideas and this is the first time our school is having this event. We hope it will continue to grow every year! Thank you to Luca and Zoe in Stage 3 for giving us the idea :)
Students and families are invited to wear traditional clothes from their culture.
Alternatively, students and families are invited to wear the colours of their country's flag(s).
At 9.15-10am we invite students and families to our whole-school Multicultural Day Parade!
Where: Netball Court
You will be invited to walk around with other students and families from their country or region. Bring a flag from your country!
(The students will also make flags in class).
At 11-11.40am we invite families to have a picnic at our school!
Where: Grass area & Wavy Seats
Bring some food, a blanket or towel to sit on, and enjoy having a picnic at our school!
There will be 2 food activities on the day: Korean ‘gimbap’ (Korean sushi rolls) and Australian fairy bread which require permission (notes will be sent home).
Ingredients: rice, gim (seaweed), pickled radish, cucumber, carrot, vegetable oil, chicken spam and beef bulgogi (beef, garlic, spring onion, onion, soy sauce, sesame oil, pear puree juice, pineapple). Students can choose not to have some ingredients.
