Tech problems? Something not working?
Zoom is a free online video-conferencing tool that allows students and their teachers to interact with each other over their computers or tablets.
You will need a laptop/desktop PC or tablet with a microphone and a camera. Most modern devices have these built in.
You will also need the Zoom software. When you click on an invitation link, provided by your teacher, the Zoom application will launch automatically if you already have it installed or will prompt you to install it. You only need to install the Zoom application once.
Your student's teacher will provide a Zoom invitation link via either Seesaw (K-2) or Google Classroom (3-6). Please see below to view the instructional video for your appropriate platform.
In this video, Mr Wallace walks us through how to find the Zoom invitation link in the Seesaw application and demonstrates the vital functions of the platform.
In this video, Mr Wallace walks us through how to find the Zoom invitation link in the Google Classroom application and demonstrates the vital functions of the platform.
Here, Mr L goes through the install and setup process of Zoom on a PC from an invitation link if you do not already have the application installed.
Note: If you have already signed into your child's student portal and launched G-Suite the PC should keep you logged in as your student. However, you may be brought into the DoE account login page. If this happens you just need to enter:
User ID: firstname.lastname (i.e. john.smith*)
Password: your student's unique password
*note: some logins might have a number i.e. john.smith3
Here, Mr Wallace discusses what is expected of students whilst using the Zoom video-conferencing tool.
It is recommended that parents/carers read through the attached document carefully with their child. It contains guidelines for the safe and appropriate use of Zoom for all students.
