There are many ways to code in Minecraft Education. Minecraft Education has built in coding resources that allow students (and you, the teacher) to learn more about coding.
To start coding, login to Minecraft Education. Once you are in your world click on the C button on your keyboard.
The Code Builder will appear. There are 2 code builders that you can use. The most common (and student friendly) is the Microsoft MakeCode (the first option).
When clicking on Microsoft MakeCode, you will get many coding activities. Start with the Tutorials and then work your way up. Each activity comes with three coding options - Blocks, Python and JavaScript. You can use any of these coding languages that are best suited to your students abilities.
When completing these activities (in both primary schools and high schools), I always begin with Block Coding and then depending on their ability, ask them to repeat the activity using Python (more so for High School students). My most favourite activity to begin with all students (and teacher) is the Chicken Rain activity. Loads of fun!
If you would like to try the Code Builder before your students do, log in to Minecraft Education and complete the Code Builder Tutorial (click on the image below or access it via Minecraft Education).
