The Premier's Reading Challenge for 2025 opens on Monday, 25 February and closes Friday, 19 September.
The Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely. More information and rules can be found on the PRC site.
All students in Kindergarten, Year One and Year Two will complete the challenge at school and their teacher librarian will complete their online reading record for them.
Students in Years 3 - 6 need to complete the challenge independently and add the books they have read to their online reading record themselves. If you need help with this please visit us in the library. You can refer to thisPRC user guide which is also posted to Library Google Classrooms.
Students can log in via their student portal. Students can also go directly to the PRC site and use their usual school username and password.
Students who complete the PRC four times will receive a gold certificate and students who complete the PRC seven times will receive a platinum certificate. A PRC Medal is awarded to Year 9 and 10 students to recognise 7 years of independent reading. Year 9 are eligible for a medal for completing the PRC every year from Year 3 - Year 9 inclusive. Year 10 students are eligible for a medal for completing the PRC seven times between Year 3 and Year 10. Participation, Gold and Platinum certificates are sent to schools in Term 4.
Hopefullymany KPS students will complete the PRC this year!
