Term 3, 2025
Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
As we come to the close of a busy and rewarding term, I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the wonderful achievements and experiences our students have enjoyed.
This term, our students had many opportunities to participate in different excursions around our beautiful city, including to the Sydney Opera House, Manly Beach and Sydney University. These excursions offer valuable learning experiences to discover more about Australian culture and lifestyle, practise their language skills in real-world settings and form meaningful bonds with their classmates.
In addition to these experiences, we have continued to strengthen our learning programs across all grades. Our dedicated teachers have been working hard to support each student’s growth, particularly in developing strong English skills. We encourage all families to maintain this momentum over the upcoming holidays by engaging in reading, writing, and everyday conversations in English. These simple activities can make a significant difference in language development and confidence.
Please enjoy the photo galleries from this term showcasing the diverse activities your children have been involved in throughout the term. Our committed teachers develop hands-on learning opportunities inside and outside the classroom that encourage students to learn through experience and thoughtful reflection.
I would like to thank our parents and carers for your ongoing support and partnership. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next term for more exciting learning adventures.
I wish all students and families a wonderful and safe break and look forward to seeing our students back and refreshed on Tuesday 14th October, 2025.

The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation came to our school and built two bookshelves for our classroom. They filled the bookshelves with over 100 books that have been enjoyed by our students during lunchbreaks. Students are encouraged to increase their literacy skills through reading for 30 minutes each evening through our Home Reading Program.
On the 15th August, 6S and 5J had the opportunity to attend a workshop on setting up a stage for a performance. They created their own mock stage and enjoyed a drama show put together by Irish actors.
At the beginning of the term, the new International Students went on an excursion to explore Sydney. We visited the beautiful Circular Quay and took the ferry over to Manly Beach. It was a lovely day for students to get to know each other and their new home!
At the end of the term we had a friendly basketball competition between Marrickville IEC and Beverly Hills IEC. It was a great competitive day with all of our students trying their best! Our Senior Boys team came 1st, Junior Boys team came 2nd, and Girls team came 3rd!
4S went on an excursion to the city. They walked across the Harbour Bridge, through the Rocks to the Botanic Gardens and down to Chinatown.
6S had an orientation to the Australian education system day with a visit to Sydney University, UTS, Sydney TAFE and a meal together.
The students had a very enjoyable day celebrating all the wonderful cultures at KIEC and KHS.
It was a day filled with music, dance, flags and of course, yummy food. Thank you to all the performers and cooks!
As a reward, 4J and 5J had a wonderful day in the city on Tuesday of the last week of school. They watched the Australian film 'Kangaroo', a story about the experience of looking after an orphaned kangaroo. The classes then enjoyed some time playing at Darling Quarter in the city.
We wish our graduating students all the very best as they start their journey to high school. We will miss you.
For art this term, students explored a wide variety of art forms and techniques: paintings of ballet dancers, self-portrait drawings, lino prints and mixed media work.
This term we have been very fortunate to be able to use the high school laboratory for experiments and observations.
