What is VET Retail about?

VET Retail develops competencies practical for the retail environment. This course performs a significant role in preparing students for a successful transition from school to work. VET training is valued by industry, further education providers and the community. It teaches them practical skills that they can apply.

What will I learn about in VET Retail?

By undertaking studies in VET Retail you will learn about interpersonal skills, customer service skills, engaging the customer, build customer relationships, work effectively in a team, identify and respond to security risks, receive and handle retail stock, produce visual displays, organise and maintain the store environment, work health and safety requirements and operating point of sale equipment. These units are referred to ask competencies (skills) and they are undertaken in an industry workplace or a simulated industry environment.

What will I get out of studying VET Retail?

You may be eligible to attain a Certificate III in Retail Services which is a nationally recognised qualification. You will also acquire many useful skills that will transfer into employment avenues. 70 Hours work placement is a mandatory requirement for the satisfactory completion of this course. Work placement has the potential to lead to casual, part time or permanent employment.
