STARTING SCHOOL

Children can start Kindergarten at the beginning of the school year if they turn 5, on or before 31 July that year. By law, all children must be in compulsory schooling by their 6th birthday. If your child is not turning 6 the year they start Kindergarten, we encourage you to have a discussion with your child's early childhood teacher, doctor or a staff member at Wyoming Public School about whether your child is ready for Kindergarten..

There is a period of transition for all children and their families when starting Kindergarten. It is important that families, schools and early childhood settings all work together to help with a smooth transition into school. This process begins in the year prior to school and will continue throughout the first year of schooling.
