On Wednesday, 27th May, Gregory Hills Public School joined more than 2.3 million students across Australia for National Simultaneous Storytime, coming together to share the joy of reading and celebrate this year's story, Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller.
Students proudly wore their favourite sporting jerseys, bringing plenty of colour, team spirit and excitement to our school as we joined schools and communities across the country in this special literacy event.
National Simultaneous Storytime is a wonderful reminder of the power of books to connect us, inspire us and spark a lifelong love of reading.
Authors, stories, inspiration… and a bus full of excited readers!
Mrs Brien and Mrs Clarke have taken 20 enthusiastic Stage 3 students to the Sydney Writers’ Festival Primary School Days event, for a day packed with creativity, storytelling and unforgettable experiences.
Our students have been soaking up ideas from incredible authors and illustrators and discovering the magic behind books and writing - with plenty of excitement along the way!
Enjoy this sneak peek into the day…
And keep an eye out because a special student podcast is coming soon, sharing highlights, reflections and favourite moments from the experience!
What an incredible afternoon our Stage 2 students had on Wednesday, welcoming award-winning author Jacqueline Harvey to our school as part of her The Girl and the Ghost book tour! Our students were completely captivated as Jacqueline shared stories from her writing journey, offered a behind-the-scenes look into the world of books, to inspire them to bring their own ideas and imagination to life through storytelling.
Best known for her beloved Alice-Miranda, Kensy and Max and Willa and Woof series, Jacqueline’s visit was a wonderful opportunity for students to engage with one of Australia’s most celebrated children’s authors as part of our library program. A huge thank you to Jacqueline for such an engaging, inspiring and memorable visit!
