The world is filled with diverse animal life, even in unexpected places. By observing other species, we gain insight into both similarities and differences among living beings, recognising our interconnectedness within a complex ecological system.
This unit integrates science with literacy. Students observe small animals' features and behaviours, deepening their understanding of survival in various habitats. Through investigations, they learn about animal movement, feeding, and protection, while also exploring and comparing different habitats.
The unit emphasises that all living things require water, food, sunlight, and air to survive, highlighting our dependence on plants and animals for comfort and sustenance. Students gain an appreciation for the role of plants and animals as sources of food and fiber, as well as the diversity and purposes of different types of farms.
