The Online Guide for Learning from Home for Girraween Public School.
On this site you will find Resources and How to Guides to support your child's learning at home. In most cases, students will upload their learning onto Seesaw (K-3) and Google Classrooms (4-6). Please contact your child's class teacher if you have any difficulty accessing these platforms.
Whether your child is at school or at home, the aim is for all students to access the consistent learning content provided by our school.
Class teachers will mark the roll each morning as per the following:
• Kindergarten to Year 3: Teacher will send a morning Check-in
activity via Seesaw that students should complete at any time
between 8.30am – 10.30am.
• Year 4 to Year 5: Teacher will set a Check-in activity via
Google Classroom each morning.
• Year 6: Teacher will host a virtual roll call via MS Teams at
9.15am
If your child is unable to Check-in in the morning, please send a message to your child’s teacher by 3.30pm each day and they will still be marked as ‘Present – In attendance’.
If your child is unwell, or anyone in the family has had a positive COVID test, please let your child’s class teacher know.
To support their child's learning, parents and carers are advised to:
establish routines and expectations
define a space for your child to work in
monitor communication from the school
encourage physical activity and/or exercise
checking in with your child regularly to help them manage stress
monitor how much time your child is spending online
keep your child social, but set rules around their social media interactions.
These responsibilities should be adjusted according to the age of your child:
establishing and/or following a daily routine for learning
working in the safe, comfortable, quiet space in their home that has been set aside for them
regularly monitoring digital platforms and communication to check for announcements and feedback from teachers
completing tasks honestly and doing their best work
communicating with their teachers
collaborating and supporting classmates in their learning
complying with the department’s Student use of digital devices and online services policy
Even though your child is at home they still need to comply with their school’s behaviour management policy. Collaboration, group work and peer feedback will require students to communicate online and work together in digital spaces. The expectations of your child and required behaviour will be the same as a face to face lesson.
