Harmony Day
Harmony Week is an Australian Government Department of Home Affairs initiative that celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. It is about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
This year, Yarrawarrah Public School will celebrate this important day on Friday 21 March (Week 8, T1).
This day will be a mufti day where we ask all students to wear the colour orange or a splash of orange with their mufti or uniform. Students are asked that their clothes be sun safe and they wear enclosed shoes. Traditionally, orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect. Wearing something orange shows support for cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia.
On this day, all students will be participating in a fun activity which will become a whole school mural. Photos of the completed mural will be published in the newsletter and on our school Facebook page.
We look forward to seeing all shades of orange and thank you for your support.
