Technical rehearsals
Each school will have a scheduled technical rehearsal at the Bay Pavilions during the day.
To ensure a smooth technical rehearsal please ensure:
Schools should arrive approximately 30 minutes prior to their rehearsal slot times.
Schools are encouraged to come dressed in costume ready for their rehearsal. This is particularly important for those schools in the 9 am to 10:30 am rehearsal slot. Students may change out of their costumes following their rehearsal to watch the other schools rehearse.
Travelling schools are welcome to change into costumes upon arrival.
All schools must do their tech rehearsal in costume. This is required to assist the lighting technician with lighting design. Correct hair and makeup (if applicable) are not essential for the tech rehearsal.
It is useful to have a teacher or someone familiar with the performance sit with the lighting and sound technicians during the rehearsal to discuss your requirements. Please decide before you arrive who this person will be.
Each school will be given approximately 30 to 45 minutes on stage to rehearse. This should allow for an initial blocking of students followed by 2 run-throughs of their performance piece.
Schools are encouraged to watch other schools rehearse both in their own time slot and throughout the day.
Schools will be marshalled from the seats in the auditorium for their rehearsal.
It is the responsibility of the teacher to ensure students are adequately warmed up prior to rehearsing and performing.
Schools returning to school may leave when they are ready. These schools will need to leave via Stage Door and be signed out by the teacher.
FSCDrF - Technical rehearsal schedule
Following the closing of submissions, schools will be notified of their technical rehearsal timeslot by Friday 28 June (Term 2 Week 9).
Dressing rooms
Dressing rooms will be allocated to schools on the day. All schools will be allocated to either a primary or secondary dressing room area. All schools will be sharing dressing room spaces with other schools.
Please ensure you use your allocated space and leave the space clean and tidy at the end of the evening.
Schools will have access to dressing rooms during the day and may leave any costumes/props in the dressing room or backstage dock throughout the day.
Please encourage students to only bring one small bag each to keep all their items in.
There are 2 toilets in most dressing rooms. Toilet blocks can also be found in the main foyer area.
Please discourage students from removing makeup in the toilets. Please either use wipes or ask them to take their makeup off when they get home.
