Kinder Online Presentation

Our mission is to prepare each student to be a happy, healthy, successful and lifelong learner.

We are looking forward to meeting our new kindergarten students of 2022. Due to COVID restrictions, our kindergarten transition program will run differently to previous years. We will begin the first of our sessions on the 28th October which will be a parent information session accessible via Zoom. This will be your opportunity to ask any questions you may have about your child beginning their learning journey. The following sessions will begin on Wednesday 20th October and continue for 4 weeks on Wednesdays until the 17th November.

During our onsite transition sessions, your child will get to know our school environment as well as participate in literacy and numeracy activities. They will meet some of our dynamic teachers and staff, and visited many important parts of our school, including the library, playground, classrooms and canteen. Children will get the opportunity to make purchases from the canteen for morning tea during their second transition session on the 17th November.

The upcoming sessions will allow our teachers to gain a greater understanding of your child's social, emotional and academic ability as well as general school readiness. An outline of these sessions can be found here. Please ensure that these dates are written in your diary, as it is essential that all students enrolled at Erina Heights Public School for 2022 attend all transition sessions to enable the most positive start to 'big school'. These visits encourage and promote positive learning experiences, the beginning of peer networks and teacher-student relationships. They also assist students in developing a familiarity with their new school and surroundings. It is most helpful to discuss these sessions with your child to ensure they understand that they will attend the classroom sessions like kindergarten students, without their parents.

Please note that department restrictions allow us to have one parent bring their child to orientation sessions where they can stay for ten minutes before their child will begin their transition program. We require you to complete an external visitors form each time you visit our school for kinder orientation sessions to ensure we have records of visitors in the case that contact tracing is required, should there be any identified COVID-19 cases in our school. We understand that your child may find it distressing not being able to have you there to settle them into their session, however we begin with play-based activities which we find helps settle children quickly.

If you have any questions or hesitations please contact Mr Jason Barnes or Mrs Natalie MacDonald on (02) 4367 7608.
