About the Program

The Band and String program is part of a wide variety of extracurricular Creative Arts programs offered at Elanora Heights Public School. As a school, we value the arts and firmly believe in the importance of music in the curriculum.

Elanora Heights Public School currently has three String groups and two Bands.

  • String Beans: Made up of beginner String players predominately in Year 2 who are in their first year of learning an instrument.

  • Mezzo Strings: An intermediate group of players who have played their instrument for at least one year.

  • Senior Strings: An audition based group that are working at an extension level.

  • Training Band: Beginner wind and percussion players predominately in Year 3 who are in their first year of learning their instrument.

  • Senior Band: An intermediate and senior group of players who have played their instrument for at least one year.

Rehearsal Schedule

Each group rehearses at school once per week and have the opportunity to develop their musical ability through learning a variety of repertoire from worldwide composers. Each rehearsal runs for 60-minutes before or after school. A current Rehearsal Schedule can be found below, however this is subject to change.

All rehearsals will take place in the Band & String Room.

2023 Fee Structure

Band and String Fees our outlined in the table below. This fee covers the cost of weekly rehearsals, sheet music and performances. String Bean and Band members can choose to hire an instrument from the school for $250 per year or purchase their own. Families will be invoiced each semester in conjunction with their regular school fees. If required, Band and String fees can be paid in instalments throughout the year.

In addition to the cost of weekly private lessons, students will also have the opportunity to participate in a Music Camp at Camp Kedron. The cost of this is an additional $100 which can be paid to the P&C using a $100 Creative Kids voucher.
