Best Start at DPS

In December you will receive a letter telling you the date and time of your child's Best Start appointment. It is important that you make every effort to attend this appointment time. If you are unable to do so please let us know by contacting the office so we can make alternative arrangements. The dates of Best Start are from Tuesday 31st January- Friday 3rd February.

Best Start is an assessment that is completed by all Kindergarten students to assess their knowledge in literacy and numeracy, prior to starting school. This allows us to organise our programs to cater for students at their individual level. On the day of your child's 'Meet and Greet' session their Kindergarten teacher will spend approximately 45 minutes asking them a series of literacy and numeracy questions as well as getting to know your child a little better. There is no need for your child to prepare in any way for this test. Parents and caregivers are unable to be in the classroom while Best Start is taking place.
