On Monday 6th June, the students in Stage 2 visited Field of Mars in East Ryde.
We began our day with a short bush walk through the Strangers Creek Loop Track. On the way we spotted kookaburras, ducks, worms, trap door spiders, geckos and a Tawny Frogmouth! There were lots of mini caves and rock walls along the way featuring different creepy crawlies. Students enjoyed hiking through the track along the boardwalk, and through the forest.x
The aim of this excursion was for students to create a mini documentary in a day, inspired by the natural environment around them. Students participated in a documentary skills workshop where they learnt how to use scripts, storyboards and different filmmaking techniques to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. They spent the afternoon working in small groups to create their documentaries.
