In Semester 2, Stage 2 students from 4/3L, 4/3P, 4/3M and 3/2C embarked on a learning journey with Mrs. Mawad and their teachers. Students explored the power of documentaries to teach audiences about new topics such as historical events, famous people and interesting animals. During this project students used their knowledge and understanding about informative texts to research, draft and publish short oral presentations about interesting animals.
These classes participated in a series of technology tutorials where they learnt how to use iPads to film and edit green screen movies. During the production process, students experimented with wireless microphones, camera techniques and visual editing effects. The worked in small groups with Mrs. Mawad to design visually appealing artworks that were used in the background of their documentaries.
Students worked tirelessly during their assigned lessons and even worked through some lunch breaks to edit their finished product. As the term progresses students will be finalising their videos and they will be added to the CWPS Learning Hub so that students can share their hard work with you.
We hope you enjoy viewing these amazing short films that our students have produced.

On Monday 6th June, the students in Stage 2 visited Field of Mars in East Ryde.
We began our day with a short bush walk through the Strangers Creek Loop Track. On the way we spotted kookaburras, ducks, worms, trap door spiders, geckos and a Tawny Frogmouth! There were lots of mini caves and rock walls along the way featuring different creepy crawlies. Students enjoyed hiking through the track along the boardwalk, and through the forest.x
The aim of this excursion was for students to create a mini documentary in a day, inspired by the natural environment around them. Students participated in a documentary skills workshop where they learnt how to use scripts, storyboards and different filmmaking techniques to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. They spent the afternoon working in small groups to create their documentaries.
Stage 2 look forward to sharing their final documentaries with you!
