Please follow these steps to ensure you have selected your subjects correctly, and to ensure you have the best chance of studying your preferred electives in Stage 5 (Year 9 and Year 10).
Read through the Subject Selection Book. Carefully consider each course and choose those that you would most like to study. Don't forget to think about:
Your interests
Your abilities
Your teachers' recommendations
Your parents' advice
The kind of assessment used in the course
Make a list of your chosen subjects in order of preference, including at least 5 subjects. This step is very important - if you miss out on your higher preferences, you will automatically be placed into one of your reserves, if available.
We will try to allocate you to your highest preferences, but none of your choices are guaranteed
If two of your subjects are running at the same time, we will try to place you in the higher preference
Some subjects may not run if student demand is low
Do not choose subjects that you would not be willing to study!
What you will need:
Your personal webcode (this will be emailed to your education email address)
Your list of subjects in order
Access to the website https://my.edval.education/login
Go to the edval website and enter your webcode. If you have lost or forgotten your webcode, click 'forgot webcode' and enter your email address to have it re-sent. Once you have logged in, check that your name, school and Year group are showing correctly.
Enter your choices in order of preference, including reserves. Check carefully any notes or warning messages that appear on the page.
You must select a minimum of TWO subjects and THREE reserves
You must place your subjects in order, starting with the one you MOST want to study.
Think about some of the following questions (and use them to reorder your preferences if needed):
What if my first choice runs at the same time as my second choice? Which one would I choose?
What if my first two choices are both unavailable? Would I be willing to study my third and fourth? Or third and fifth?
When you are confident that your choices are correct, press submit. You then need to do the following:
Print a copy of your choices
Have the copy signed by your parent or carer
Submit the signed copy to THE HEAD TEACHER SECONDARY STUDIES by Friday, Week 3. (Mr Yau)
