GARY (Google Accessible Resources - Yay!) is a cloud based storage drive used by BRPS staff for storing and sharing resources. The drive is a Shared Google Drive.
GARY can be accessed from school, home or even on the road via a tablet/mobile phone.
It is recommended that you use Google's Drive for Desktop application to access GARY, but it can also be accessed directly via the Google Drive web interface.
Installing Drive for Desktop is managed centrally at school, but you will need to install it yourself on your PC or Mac at home.
To install Google Drive for Desktop at home, click on this link and log in with your @education.nsw.gov.au email address if prompted. Alternatively you can open Google Drive from the Staff Portal under My Learning Tools / G Suite. Once Google Drive opens.
Click on the "Settings" cog in the top right corner and select "Get Drive for Desktop". Now follow the prompts to install Drive for Desktop for your operating system.
The first time you run Drive for Desktop you will need to log in, you must log in with your Google email address (@education.nsw.gov.au) and then follow the prompts to complete the login process.
When you save a file on your computer it needs to sync those changes up to Google Drive, this normally happens within a few seconds but before logging off or shutting down your computer it is best to check that all files are uploaded, especially if any of the files are large due to embedded videos or graphics.
You do this by clicking the Drive icon in the taskbar and checking that all the files have green ticks beside them and say synced.
Sometimes your computer at school might not show a new file you created or edited at home, or visa-versa. If this happens, you need to force Drive for Desktop to refresh. To do this we hold down Ctrl and Shift, Right-click on the folder that needs refreshing and select the Google Refresh Folder. The folder will then be refreshed and any new or updated files will be available.
