Dear Parent and Carers,
Our recent ‘Meet the Teacher’ afternoons were well attended, despite the torrential rain that began on both afternoons. Thank you for those who came along and especially to the parents who agreed to take on the role as Class Parent for 2026.
Parent Survey
Today, a short parent survey has been sent to you via School Bytes. Your insights will help us better understand the views of our school community and inform and support school planning and reporting. Thank you in anticipation for completing the survey.
I’d like to thank the P and C for accepting the requests for funding that were submitted at the recent P and C meeting. We are so grateful to have a supportive parent community who respect our judgments and understand that the requests are made to support our children' s learning and wellbeing.
Congratulations to our First Nations students Jai and Avah, who have been rehearsing with the First Nations Dance Ensemble to perform at the Pulse Alive Concert in March. This event brings together K-12 First Nations students from metropolitan, regional, rural, and remote communities. It is a fantastic opportunity that fosters a strong sense of belonging for our students. I would also like to extend my gratitude to Mrs Ignazzi and Mrs Millar for their support of our students during this event.
Regrettably, a replacement for our dedicated crossing supervisor, Sandy, has not been found. The Executive team is currently covering the morning and afternoon crossing duties. We kindly ask everyone to be extra cautious with driving and parking around the school to ensure the safety of our students. We hope Transport for NSW will provide a replacement next week. We also want to sincerely thank the parents who have offered their support—it is greatly appreciated. Additionally, the police have been notified and will be patrolling the school during pick-up and drop-off times to help enforce safe driving practices.
Help model the safe way to cross a road to your children:
• Wherever possible, cross the road at a designated pedestrian crossing facility
• Stop! Look! Listen! Think! when crossing the road.
• Take care whenever you cross.
• Don’t run across the road.
The students have absolutely loved learning new dance moves and routines with Will from the Dance Curriculum. The energy is infectious and I'm sure you will agree if you are able to join us on Friday morning for the final parent presentation.
Times: Early Stage 1 & Stage 1 (9:25am - 10:05am)
Stages 2 & 3 (10:25am - 11:05am)
This week our Stage teams worked together examining data to help drive planning and the next cycle of teaching sequences. As mentioned in the Meet the Teacher evening we are excited to be working with the team from 24/7 Professional Teacher Development to implement Morning Routine across the school from K-6. Teachers have completed online training and have been planning what the focus of Morning Routine will be in their classes this term.
Our teachers are super keen to work with the experts! We will keep you posted!
This term we have continued our connection with Relationships Australia. Our facilitator Susan has led Stage 3 students through Seasons for Growth which is a small group education program that supports children and young people to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to understand and respond well to experiences of change, loss and grief. The program provides a safe learning environment for children and young people to:
• Acknowledge their experiences and recognise they are ‘not the
only one’
• Understand that their feelings and other behavioural reactions
are normal
• Develop skills for coping, positive choices, goal-setting and
decision making
• Build a peer support network and a felt sense of belonging and
connection
• Help restore self-confidence, self-esteem and self-respect
We are indeed fortunate to have Sally and Sue from Relationships Australia providing worthwhile programs such as this to our students once again in 2026.
Our Year 3 and 5 students will complete NAPLAN testing on Wednesday 11th March with Writing as the first Assessment. Parents have been sent a timetable of the assessment schedule.
Thank you to Sarah Avon, Mrs Fowler, Mrs St Flour and Mrs Talevski’s Nonna who have helped sew and hem our new microfibre cloths for use in all our classrooms. The cloths will make our “Three second clean” of our whiteboards super quick and easy!!
I’m looking forward to welcoming our school community to our outback on Friday evening for an opportunity to relax and spend time catching up with friends and meeting new ones. Hopefully the rain will stay away so the event can go ahead. Parry does not like the rain. See you there!
Mrs Brooks
Principal
This Friday, 6th March our school will be taking part in Schools Clean Up Day. All classes will spend time throughout the day helping to clean up our school grounds and surrounding areas.
Schools Clean Up Day is part of the nationwide Clean Up Australia Day initiative, encouraging students to take responsibility for their environment and develop lifelong sustainable habits. It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to show pride in our school and work together to care for our community.
Students are welcome to bring their own gloves to use on the day if they prefer. All students will thoroughly wash their hands after participating in the clean-up activities.
We look forward to seeing our students demonstrate teamwork, responsibility and care for our environment!
Congratulations to our students for remembering to recycle cans and water bottles. Every class has a bucket to help. So far this year the school has earned $34.80.
Our next project is to recycle food scraps.
Kindergarten have been learning about context by identifying aspects of their own world. Puggles have created a storybook to demonstrate their understanding of the school environment.
Our School by Kindy Puggles features all of the students’ favourite places around PPS.
Toby and Sonny represented our school at the Ryde/Beecroft Zone Australian Football trials. Out of a talented group of players, they were both named as reserves for the squad that will go to the Sydney North trial in Week 7.
Congratulations boys!
