My series of prints explore my relationship to the Blue Mountains and the connection that I have to my natural surrounds. Growing up beside the bush, I decided to reference the mountainous nature of my environment living amongst the trees through an aerial perspective. This work juxtaposes the suburban against the natural elements of my world and reflects an organic evolution of a place my family has called home for over 90 years.
The streets wind in and amongst the bushland and include symbols such as the Waratahs which grow wild in my backyard. The overall work is a combination of actual bush walks and streets alongside more personal and subjective interpretations of my environment that are linked to memories and stories told by my family.
