RULES

The Game

  • Team of 5 players (1 Goal Keeper & 4 Court players)

  • Team squads can have up to seven (7) players nominated. Students can only be part of ONE (1) team.

  • Every player must wear shin pads, flat white soled shoes or Futsal shoes.

  • Unlimited substitutions are allowed. Players must substitute within their own half.

  • Match Length - 10-minute halves

  • Three (3) Points for a win, One (1) for a draw, Zero (0) for a loss

A Goal

  • A goal cannot be scored directly from a goal clearance, sideline kick, indirect free kick or a kick-off (starting or restarting the game).

  • The whole ball must cross the whole of the line to award a goal, corner kick, sideline kick, goal clearance.

Free Kicks, Fouls & Behaviour

  • There are no offsides.

  • Slide Tackles are not permitted in any game by any player other than the Goalkeeper.

  • Aggressive/Dangerous play is not allowed.

  • Players cannot play the ball whilst ‘lying’ on the ground.

  • Five (5) accumulated team fouls are allowed during each half of play (per team). Each subsequent foul is rewarded by a ten (10) metre penalty kick to the opposition team.

  • Referees always have the final say in all match decisions and will use Yellow (caution) and Red (expulsion) cards. Straight Red Card – Automatic 2 game suspension, Two Yellow Cards in the same match – Red card, automatic one-game suspension, 2 yellow cards throughout the league – one-game suspension

Restarting Play

  • There is a four (4) second limit placed on all set plays (corners, kick-ins, free kicks etc)

  • To restart the game from the sideline the ball must be placed on the ground and kicked in. The player must have both feet on the outside of the sideline when the kick is taken. The ball needs to be still.

  • A corner kick restarts the game when the ball crosses a goal line (outside of the goal) after being touched last by a defending player.

Goalkeeper Rules

  • When the ball goes ‘dead’ over the goal line (being touched last by an attacking player) the goalkeeper must throw the ball back into play within four (4) seconds but not over the 2/3rd line on the full.

  • If a goalkeeper catches the ball during the game (within his/her penalty area) he/she may throw, dribble or kick the ball back into play (throws not over 2/3rd line). Goalkeeper drop kicks are not allowed.

  • Keepers have a four (4) second time limit in their own half.

  • A keeper may NOT handle the ball from a back pass (from a teammate).

  • Goalkeepers can only slide (side-on) within the confines of their own penalty area. Sliding feet first towards an opponent is illegal (dangerous play).

  • Keepers may only handle the ball legally within their own penalty areas.

  • Opposition players must be at least five (5) metres from the ball at all ‘set plays’ and restarts (corners, free kicks, etc)

  • When a keeper throws or passes the ball to a teammate the keeper cannot touch the ball until 1) Touched an opponent, 2) Gone out of play or 3) The keeper has physically travelled past the halfway line.
