ST3‑4LW‑S examines how the environment affects the growth, survival and adaptation of living things
How do the structural and behavioural features of living things support survival?
How do physical conditions affect the survival of living things?
Download a copy of the Amazing Adaptations Journal and save it to your own drive before you begin.
Use the top menu on this site to navigate through the activities, recording answers in your journal. The activity numbers on this site match the activity numbers in the journal.
Add extra pages if needed and share it with your teacher once you're done. Alternatively, get creative and make one of your own.
Have you ever wondered why plants and animals look or behave the way they do? One of the answers is adaptation.
Adaptations are features of living things that help them survive in their environment. They can be structural (physical features) or behavioural (what the living thing does). Animals that are better adapted to their environment are more likely to survive and therefore pass on their adaptation.
As you go through this site and complete your journal, you will learn about some environments in the Royal National Park along with adaptations of native Australian plants and animals.
