WHAT ARE SERVICE TEAMS?

Every STLP State Championship is led and run by students. Students work to bring support and publish their own media highlighting events.

During Regionals, students interviewed for coveted positions on the STLP State Service Teams:

• STLP Engineers,
• Live Production Team,
• Social Media Team,
• Blogger Corps.,
• Photojournalists,
• and the Media Arts Team.

These students will work throughout the STLP State Championship to bring live support and coverage to our event. Reporting live via Facebook, adding blog entries to the website, updating the digital Wall of Winners, providing technical support, or working with professionals from KET, these service teams are vital to State.

Remember, Service Teams are not a competition activity... you did your competing back during Regionals when you interviewed for a spot on the team. You made it through...now you're here to help!

WHERE DO I GO?

Check the Master Schedule to determine where to report and when. Generally, Service Team duties start before10 am... so you can be in place with your assignments ready ahead of the 10:30 am competition start time.

Upon arrival, go directly to your area and report to your Lead.

Leads are adults from STLP that will guide and mentor you throughout the day. Your Lead may have already reached out to your STLP Coordinator with details.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

All service teams are BYOD.

So, if you're a Photojournalist, for example, you should bring your own camera and computer (if you intend to edit your photos). Limit the other personal items with you...they will only slow you down during this fast paced day of activity!

HOW LONG WILL I BE THERE?

Each service team has a different schedule. Often, Leads will set rosters for the morning and the afternoon. This allows you to explore the STLP Playground or other events. It's not all work all day! :)

Check with your Lead to find out when you will be released to return to your STLP team and STLP Coordinator.

STLP AWARDS CEREMONY

All Service Team members will be recognized on stage during the evening STLP Awards Ceremony. Also, each team member will recieve an award to commemorate your accomplishment of being a key player in the success of the STLP State Championship.

Of course we want everyone to get their time in the spotlight, but if you have to leave before the Award Ceremony, stop by STLP HQ to see if you can collect your award early.
