Background History School
Wangdue primary school was established in the year 1955. It is regarded as one of the oldest schools in the country. However, it had been downgraded in the year 2015 due to the congestion of space and infrastructure inadequacy.
The school is located on the table land besides Thimphu - Trongsa highway just above the Wangduephodrang Dzong and adjacent to the Rada Neykhang. It caters the primary education services to almost 1000 children yearly.
The school currently has 3.8 acres of land. Though the school is very small in area, yet it has the aim to provide primary educational services to each and every student with the broad and balanced quality education in line with the national curriculum.
The school is of the conviction in providing wholesome education to bring out best in each child. The school highly regards the child rights on humanitarian ground. The school believes that building quality of relationship amongst teachers and parents is fundamentally crucial to its success in many areas.
Hence, the school also promotes the community participation by celebrating the special occasions jointly and asks to be a SMB member and given full power to exercise for the school development plans.
The school believes that only keeping surrounding green does not amount to greening rather it believes in holistic greening which is why the school has initiated various activities to encourage students to achieve better performances. From the year 2015-since it’s inception of Primary School onward the school placed and incorporated LSE and GNH values in the teaching learning processes to accelerate the learning outcomes of children. In this connection the school has carried out and is conducting various learning campaign in the community in order to create awareness on healthy living and help their children to educate in right ways. The school also constantly carries out various parent teachers meeting and parenting education in order to impart knowledge of right way of parenting. School aims to invite various guest speakers to speak on various issues to encourage students learn better and get firsthand knowledge from the expert in their particular field.
Further to heighten the teaching learning processes in the school and to impart quality education in our budding youths, the school cordially further propose for the autonomy status, which our ministry has taken noble initiative to improve quality education in children. The school will be looking forward for the MoE’s approval.
