Wangchhu Middle Secondary School is located in Bjabcho Gewog under Chhukha Dzongkhag . It was started as a primary school in 1971 to provide education mainly to the children of the people involved in the construction of the 336-MW Chhukha Hydro –electric Project .Since the school is situated on the right bank of river Wangchhu, the school was renamed as Wangchhu Primary School in 1992. To meet the educational needs of the growing community, the school was upgraded to a lower secondary school in 1992 and to tis present status in 2001. The school has classes ranging from Pre- Primary to class X. The school not only benefits the employees of Chhukha Hydro Power Corporation Limited an operating power station at Chhukha, but also the people of Bjabchho Gewog, the armed force personnel, other government employees of Tala Hydro_Electric Plant stationed at Wangkha.The first two batches of students who sat for BCSE (Class X) achieved 100 % pass results and the 2003 batch brought recognition to the school as the only school to achieve 100% pass result in the country with 63% of the students qualifying for admission in Class XI. The CHPCL management invested a sum of Nu 13.86 million in construction of the present three-storey building with classrooms, Laboratories, administrative office and spacious multipurpose hall. The CHP has always has been an active partner in delivering quality education to the students of WMSS through moral and material support. The school also Non –Formal education center was also introduced in April 2000 for the community of Chhukha to obtain basics literacy and numeracy courses through this programme. This in turn has helped improve the quality of their lives.
The school also got the recognition in overall performance among top 10 School in the country in 2013 for class PP-III and IV to VI .
